A recent version of Windows is on its way, and it appears likely that it will be named the “Windows 11 2024 Update” rather than Windows 12, despite the fact that this decision ultimately rests with Microsoft’s marketing team. HP has just produced new documentation containing references to the “Windows 11 2024 Update” and “24H2”, adding to the speculation.
Several references to the Windows 11 2024 Update appear in HP’s specifications for its new Spectre range, seemingly confirming the upcoming release of Windows 11’s next major update, which is expected to introduce support for Windows Copilot 2.0 and Wi-Fi 7.
While most were convinced that the Windows 11 24H2 version was all but set in stone, there was still uncertainty about whether the company would move forward with “Windows 11 2024 Update”. Initially, the original Windows 11 update was known only internally as the Sun Valley update, with the company later unveiling it as Windows 11 2022 Update.
Confirmation of the Windows 11 2024 Update is found in HP’s documentation, where it is stated as a requirement for the utilization of Wi-Fi 7 (802.11BE) capabilities.
In addition, the full potential of Wi-Fi 7 will be unlocked with a combination of the Windows 11 2024 Update, an Intel Core or Intel Core Ultra processor, and a Wi-Fi 7-compatible router.
Wi-Fi 7 technology is notably backward compatible with previous 802.11 specifications, providing broader connectivity options. However, its availability will be limited to regions where Wi-Fi 7 is supported.
The mention of Windows 11 24H2 in another HP document further corroborates the existence of this upcoming update.
