With the stable release of Windows 11 version 23H2 now available after months of preview releases, it might seem like it’s time to move forward. However, many users are still stuck on Windows version 22H2 despite having fully compatible hardware. But don’t worry! You can still upgrade to the latest Windows 11 version. Here are some ways to do so.

Windows 11 Installation Assistant is a reliable method, although it takes longer. Simply download and run the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from the Download Windows 11 website. You will also need to download and run the PC Health Check app to ensure your PC is compatible before proceeding. This method has always worked in my experience.

Another method is using Windows 11 Installation Media. The Media Creation Tool on the Download Windows 11 website has been updated to 23H2. Create USB-based installation media with it, even if you’re already on Windows 11 version 23H2. This tool can be used for installation, upgrade, and includes the latest Windows 11 recovery tools.

You can also upgrade straight from the latest Windows 11 installation media in disk image (ISO) format. Mount the disk image in the file system and run Setup.exe. You will be given the choice to upgrade.

A method specifically for upgrading from Windows 11 version 22H2 to 23H2 on Windows 11 on Arm is using the enablement package (eKB). This method only takes several minutes and is the only official method known for this upgrade. Ensure your PC is fully updated with Windows Update, directly download the KB5027397 enablement package, and run it. Reboot your PC so the eKB can install offline. Once back into Windows 11, you’ll see that you’ve been upgraded to 23H2. This is likely the least time-consuming way to upgrade if you’re already on 22H2 and fully up-to-date. This method also works on a Mac using Parallels Desktop.
