Microsoft has once again updated the lock screen in Windows 11, making it more interactive with the addition of a new weather card. While this is a minor change, there are likely more significant updates on the horizon. Microsoft is currently testing the enhanced lock screen with the “cards” feature in Windows 11 Build 23612, available in the Canary channel. To control the new weather card, users can navigate to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen > status.
The new lock screen features a weather card that allows users to easily view dynamic weather information without leaving the lock screen. Hovering over the weather card will display additional information, and clicking on the card will redirect users to MSN’s weather page in Microsoft Edge.
At this time, the weather card functionality is limited to the United States, but Microsoft plans to expand its availability in the future.
In addition to the lock screen updates, Windows 11 Build 23612 includes improvements to the voice access feature. This update introduces multi-display support, custom commands, and support for new languages such as French, Spanish, and German. Users can create custom voice commands to control different aspects of Windows 11 and switch between languages within the voice access interface.
These changes are expected to be included in future optional cumulative updates for Windows 11.
