The latest Windows 11 update, KB5032283 (Build 22635.2841), introduces integration with WhatsApp into the OS’s built-in share menu. This integration allows for quick sharing of images, videos, or documents through the popular messaging app.
In the new update, users will notice a share window menu that now supports WhatsApp, offering a broader range of sharing options. If WhatsApp isn’t already installed on the device, the Windows share menu will prompt the user to download it from the Microsoft Store.
Microsoft has announced plans to further expand this integration to more apps, as well as make OS controls easily accessible to developers. Additionally, the update includes improvements to Windows’ Nearby Share feature, with automatic enabling of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when attempting to turn on nearby share. These changes are available in the Beta channel of the Windows Insider Program.
On a different note, the update also brings news of discontinuation. The ‘Steps Recorder’ app, a Windows 7-era troubleshooter and screen recorder, is set to be phased out in a future Windows release. Users are encouraged to transition to modern alternatives such as Snipping Tool, Game Bar, or Clipchamp.
In addition to these updates, the beta release addresses several bugs, including one that caused Task Manager to crash. These latest changes and developments are part of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to enhance the Windows 11 experience for users.
