Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Series chipsets are set to revolutionize performance, AI, connectivity, and battery life, and also introduce hardware-accelerated AI for Windows on Arm PCs. According to Qualcomm senior vice president Don McGuire in the announcement post, the Snapdragon X series platforms build upon years of experience in engineering heterogeneous compute architectures across the central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), and neural processing unit (NPU). McGuire further emphasizes that the new generation custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU, combined with the NPU, will deliver accelerated on-device user experiences for the era of generative AI.

To signify the significant advancements of this chipset over Qualcomm’s previous PC-based chipsets, they have adopted a new naming convention and visual design. The letter “X” differentiates these PC-based chips from their other chipsets while representing the monumental leap forward in computing and the user experiences it will enable. Like other Snapdragon chipsets, there will be different tiers of Snapdragon X chipsets available.

Additional details about the Snapdragon X chipsets will be unveiled at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, scheduled to begin in two weeks. Stay tuned for more information!
