Qualcomm has recently confirmed that the Snapdragon X Elite chipset, claimed to outpace Apple M3 chips, is set to be released in mid-2024 alongside a new version of Windows – albeit simply referred to as ‘Windows’, avoiding labels like ‘Windows 11’ or ‘Windows 12’.

In 2023, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon X, an Arm CPU suitable for laptops. This new generation CPU is expected to surpass the performance of Apple’s M3 SoC and provides competitive performance against Intel and AMD’s x86 CPUs.

During the Q1 2024 earnings call, Qualcomm’s CEO, Cristiano Amon, confirmed that the Snapdragon X Elite chipset is set for a launch just in time for back-to-school season. Amon also hinted at “big plans” for various “Elite X” models.

Qualcomm is aligning the anticipated mid-2024 release with the back-to-school season, aiming to make a significant impact in the market. The Snapdragon X Elite is designed to work seamlessly with the next version of Windows, featuring Windows AI capabilities.

The company foresees significant progress in the AI on PC sector, with the release of “Elite X”, paving the way for Qualcomm in the PC market. Additionally, Qualcomm is also aiming to enhance performance across all of its product lines using the success of the X Elite chipset.

There has been speculation about the name of the upcoming Windows version, with references to both “Windows 11 24H2” and “Hudson Valley” being observed. While Windows 12 could be a possibility in the future, it seems unlikely to release this year.
