This past fall, Microsoft the Windows 11 version 23H2, and according to a report from Windows Central’s Zac Bowden, a smaller “Moment 5” update will be released early next year. The upcoming update will include new Windows 11 features currently being tested by Microsoft with their Insiders. This “Moment 5” update is expected to be completed in early February and will roll out a few weeks later. This update is referred to internally at Microsoft as the “February 2024 Moment” and will likely be available to the general public in February. Bowden anticipates that the “Moment 5” update will be the only such update for Windows 11 23H2 until the “Hudson Valley” update is released in the fall of 2024. The “Hudson Valley” update could be called “Windows 12”, and it’s expected to focus on AI features, potentially introducing a new Copilot assistant. Some of the anticipated features to be included in the next update in February include improved ink functionality for PCs with digital pens, changes to inbox apps and Windows Search (EU only), enhancements to widgets, Windows Spotlight, Nearby Share functionality, Copilot improvements, Windows 365 enhancements, as well as Voice Access, Narrator, and NotePad improvements. Insider members on the Canary, Dev, or Beta Channel may be able to test these updates, although the releases will likely occur in waves, leading to frustration among eager users. This isn’t an exhaustive list, as Microsoft still has time to implement new changes before the “Moment 5” update is finalized in February.
