In January 2024, Intel has released driver updates for Windows 11 and Windows 10 targeting graphic and wireless adapters. Specifically, Intel Arc and Iris Xe have received the 31.0.101.5085 driver update, and the Core Ultra graphics driver remains at version 31.0.101.5122. The file package for both drivers amounts to about 1 GB.
The update aims to improve gameplay for “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown” on the Intel Arc A series and supports the 14th generation of Intel Core S/HX processors. However, for users not utilizing the latest CPU or playing the specific game, this update may introduce new issues instead of resolving existing ones.
One known issue is related to “Alan Wake 2” (DX12), where some users might experience discoloration when Transparency is set to Off. According to the release notes from Intel, setting Transparency to Low or High can serve as a workaround. Additionally, Intel is aware of problems occurring when playing “Dead by Daylight” and is working to address them.
The January 2024 Wi-Fi driver update addresses long-standing bugs, including an issue causing the Blue Screen of Death error on Windows 11 systems when forwarding HT traffic under heavy load. Furthermore, Intel has fixed an issue related to the “No Wi-Fi networks found” bug affecting systems using Miracast with a connected Bluetooth LE headset.
These updates, featuring Wi-Fi 7 drivers for Windows 11 with limited functionality on Windows 10, are available for download using Intel’s Driver and Support Assistant (DSA) tool. Alternatively, if users prefer to wait for the updates to roll out via Windows Update, they can check for them manually using the Update Assistant app. If any issues arise from the updates, users can revert to the previous version using Device Manager.
While Intel has released these driver updates, AMD and Nvidia haven’t shipped major changes since the December 2023 updates, according to Windows Latest.
