Tiny11 has made an effort to reduce the size of Windows 11 and utilize fewer resources, and the latest version has achieved a 20% reduction in size. This newest version is also fully compatible with Windows 11 version 23H2 and has a simpler naming system. According to NTDEV, the project maintainer, the new release is a considerable advancement, being a significant 20% smaller than the previous tiny11 23H2 image while also delivering improved functionality.
An earlier evaluation of Tiny11 brought up concerns about its operational flexibility. However, with Tiny11 2311, these concerns have been addressed. It will now automatically download and install Windows Updates from Microsoft, and users can even enable Copilot, provided they install Microsoft Edge using winget. Additionally, while Xbox components are not pre-installed, they will be enabled and function properly if a user installs an Xbox game from the Store.
The latest version of Tiny11 is now available as a 3.5 GB ISO file, either via direct download or through a torrent. Notably, the ISO file of Windows 11 version 23H2 is significantly larger at 6.2 GB. This new release of Tiny11 will be reviewed in detail to assess its potential inclusion in the Windows 11 Field Guide.
