The Windows Tips app is now among the list of deprecated features that Microsoft announced last week, following the release of Windows 11 version 23H2. The Windows Tips app is currently available on both Windows 10 and Windows 11, and its purpose is to help users discover Windows features they may not have been aware of.

According to Microsoft’s updated documentation, the Tips app is now deprecated and will be removed in a future release of Windows. However, the content in the app will continue to be updated with information about new Windows features until the app is eventually removed.

As of now, the Windows Tips app cannot be uninstalled and is rated at 3.8 on the Microsoft Store. One complaint about the app is that it does not respect default browser choices and opens all external links in Microsoft Edge.

While this Tips app may not be the most obtrusive Microsoft app on Windows PCs, it likely does not see enough usage for the company to continue investing in it. The average Windows user is more likely to seek information via Google as opposed to this app to learn more about the operating system.

In addition to deprecating the Windows Tips app, Microsoft has also deprecated other well-known apps such as the decades-old WordPad word processor and the Cortana app, which has been replaced by Copilot in Windows. Copilot uses generative AI technology, similar to Microsoft’s Bing chatbot and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and offers new features in Windows 11 version 23H2, including providing Windows tips and making changes to Windows settings. However, it is currently available only in North America, some parts of Asia, and South America.
