Microsoft recently released Windows 11 preview build 23560 for Insiders on the Dev Channel, introducing a significant change to the functionality of Copilot. With this update, users can now access Copilot using the Alt + Tab hotkey. By pressing Alt + Tab, the thumbnail preview for Copilot appears among other open windows, allowing users to switch between them by pressing Tab.
It is not clear whether this behavior can be disabled. However, if you are a Copilot user and prefer not to see it alongside other apps in Alt + Tab, you can provide feedback through the Feedback Hub. It’s worth noting that Microsoft previously added Edge tabs to Alt + Tab on Windows 11, which may also be distracting for some users.
Copilot in Windows is still in preview and is currently only available in North America, the UK, and some parts of Asia and South America. Microsoft plans to expand its availability to other markets in the future, but there is no specific timeline for users in Europe yet.
In addition to the Copilot update, build 23560 includes two improvements for the new version of File Explorer. Microsoft has fixed a bug that caused dropdowns and context menus to have a transparent background. They have also resolved an issue where the search box in the Gallery did not display the correct folder name.
Overall, these updates enhance the functionality and usability of Windows 11, providing users with a more seamless and efficient experience.
