The Windows 11 Insider build 23555 is now available for testers on the Dev Channel. Although this build does not introduce any new features, it includes important bug fixes for Copilot and Task Manager that are worth noting.
The Windows Insider team has addressed an issue that was causing File Explorer to crash when attempting to open Copilot from the taskbar. While the modernized File Explorer, developed with Microsoft’s WinUI 3 library, still requires some refinement, it will be rolled out to the public later this fall.
It is also worth mentioning that this build fixes a problem that caused Task Manager to crash when changing to Always on Top mode. Additionally, Microsoft has resolved a bug that was preventing users from previewing natural voices in Settings while utilizing the Narrator accessibility feature.
If you have installed this build and cannot see the new Copilot icon, please note that this is a known issue in this build, and Microsoft intends to address it in a future flight. This covers the main changes in the current build 23555.
In case you missed it, Insiders on the Canary and Dev Channels can now begin testing a new feature called Cocreator in Paint. This feature leverages OpenAI’s DALL-E technology. However, to participate in the preview, you currently need to join a waitlist within the app.
