Google has officially launched Nearby Share for Windows, a feature that allows easier file sharing with Android devices. This comes after a beta release in April. According to Ronald Ho from Google, the app has already been installed by over 1.7 million users worldwide. Since its launch, there have been over 50 million files transferred between PCs and Android devices using Nearby Share.

With Nearby Share for Windows, users can effortlessly share photos, videos, and other media with their own devices or nearby friends and family. The app eliminates the need for cables or cords, making file sharing a seamless experience with just a few clicks.

Google promises better performance and introduces new features with the general availability of Nearby Share for Windows. Users can now see estimated file transfer times, allowing them to plan ahead. Image previews are also displayed in notifications to ensure the correct files are being transferred.

In addition, Google has partnered with PC manufacturers to preinstall Nearby Share for Windows on their devices. HP is the first to join this initiative and will have the app preinstalled on their Dragonfly Pro laptops.

To access Nearby Share for Windows, users can download it from the Android website. This feature enhances the convenience and efficiency of file sharing between Windows PCs and Android devices.
